MEGAMAN X3 - THE FIGHT FOR EVERLASTING PEACE

CHAPTER 2 - GLORY AND SHINE, THE FINAL SHOWDOWN

There left one lane. Just one. The walls at the side seem to beckon Yakasa
to move on. Yakasa himself needed no prompting. He knew just what he had to
do. The lane was dark and long. At the far end of it, Yakasa could see a
faint green glow. He hurried towards the glow and to his surprise, saw that
the green glow was actually Zero's beam saber.

The saber lay vertically stuck in the ground. Yakasa moved towards the
saber and stood down. There, he saw traces of blood on the floor. Zero's
blood. " Maybe Zero's still alive after all. " he thought. Then he got up
and with great force, extracted the saber from the ground.

"Zero, if you're really still alive, then let this be our parting gift! "
The saber glowed ever brightly in the hands of its new master. In a flash,
the saber found a new home in the sheathe that laid behind Yakasa's back.

Then he saw a room.

Elsewhere. In the darkness laid a glass capsule. There was no noise. No
motion. Just a glass capsule. It started to crack. It did'nt take long
before the glass completely gave way and all its contents spilled onto the
floor. Contents that enriched him with powers beyond imagination.

He too was in that capsule and now, he too fell out. He was placed in there
by a Professor named Dr Doppler who helped him become what he is now. To
make things worse, Doppler even invented a new body for him by combining
different types of reploid abilities. Now, he rose from his once wretched
state. He tilted his head up and six crab-like pincers ejected from his
back. He could feel anger and power within him all waiting to be unleashed
on Yakasa, the one who ruined his plans and destoryed his life over and
over again. He stood where he was and watched the door that was just a
distance away. The only door in this room. The only entrance for Yakasa to
come in.

The door was rudely flung open. Yakasa took a glance at where he was in.
The room was large. Too large. It seemed that this room had a purpose for
being so large. Then from the far end of the room, a figure started to
walk. Yakasa in turn too started to walked foward.

" We meet again Yakasa. "

" Yes Sigma. We meet once more. This time, I'm taking you down. Let's die
together. "

" Die together? No, my friend. It is you who will depart from this world.
This time, I will be victorious! "

" SIGMA! DIE WITH ME! " shouted the Maverick Hunter who released a
long-range plasma shot at Sigma. Sigma took a huge leap into the air and
charged up the six pincers alloted at his back. He then released six bolts
of lightning towards Yakasa who managed to dodge them with great
difficulty. Once again, Yakasa fired a long-range shot.

" You know something Yakasa? " asked Sigma. This new body of mine was
created by Dr Doppler himself. He has given me all the data regarding you
and this body is specially designed to deal with you. " With that, Sigma
clamly retrieved a shield from his back and countered the long-range attack
by X. " This shield was also specially designed to counter your shots! " At
this, Sigma charged over and released an inferno shot.

" Now's my chance, " thought Yakasa who fired a five shot charged plasma. "
Just one shot will be needed to counter that inferno and the remaining four
shots will hit Sigma. " Yet things was not as he expected. Somehow, that
inferno shot seemingly had the ability to manoeuvre between the five shots
and managed to hit Yakasa squarely in the chest. Yakasa screamed in pain as
the inferno upon touching him, circled round his body while increasing its
heat to a hundred thousand degrees celsius. Meanwhile, the five charged
shots simply wore off at the touch of Sigma's shield.

" I've told you Yakasa. All my weaponary and attacks are designed to deal
with you. There's no way you can defeat me. "

Greatly weakened by the inferno, Yakasa staggered to his feet. Still trying
to recover from the previous attack when he once more saw six lightning
bolts coming his way. In his frenzy, Yakasa fired a charged five shot
plasma which managed to counter just five of the lightning bolts. Still the
sixth lightning bolt remained at large and hit Yakasa by his right
shoulder. This attack was too much for him as the right side of the armour
was blown off, revealing his original blue skin armour.

On seeing this, Sigma gave a cry of triumph and released another six
lightning bolts towards Yakasa. All six bolts managed to hit Yakasa and
there was a huge explosion. From within the flames, charged out Yakasa,
body badly damaged yet still wanting to take down Sigma.

" It never was easy to kill you Yakasa. " shouted Sigma who fired an
inferno shot at Yakasa.

But then Yakasa was not affected by the flame that circled round his body
despite pieces of his armour was visibly starting to crack and break. " DIE
WITH ME SIGMA ! "

" No! It is you who will die " answered the Maverick who thrusted his
shield towards Yakasa. The dashing Yakasa received the shield full in his
face and screamed in pain while stopping in his tracks. By now, the crest
on his helment was crumpled and pieces of his helment fell onto the floor.
Yakasa himself was in no condition to carry on. His head was covered in
blood and his armour could not hold out much longer. Yet he still staggered
towards Sigma. In him laid the desire to finish off this great evil.

Sigma clenched his fist and instantly, a crown of small spikes covered his
hands. With extreme force, Sigma dug his fist into Yakasa's unprotected
stomach. Blood welled up in Yakasa's mouth but before he could react, Sigma
drove an uppercut across Yakasa's chest towards his face. Blood poured out
from Yakasa's body as well as from his mouth. Sigma walked slowly towards
the non moving Yakasa whose breathing was the only sign to show that he was
still alive.

Sigma stood beside Yakasa who was lying on the blood soaked floor.
Clenching his fist once more, the spikes covered his fist again. " Yakasa!
This will be the final blow. I shall now destory you once and for all! "
With that, Sigma threw his spiked fist directly at Yakasa's head in an
attempt to kill him by smashing his brain. Yakasa brought his hand to his
back and reached for the tilt of his saber. There was a brief flash of
lightning.

Sigma's body was separated into two parts. As his upper body slowly fell
onto the floor, Yakasa slowed staggered up. His beam saber was already
destoryed due to the impact it received when Yakasa used it against Sigma
just moments before Sigma's fist could reach him. The saber had indeed
served its purpose well.

Sigma turned his head and looked at Yakasa. " It's not over yet! " he said
as his body exploded in flames. When the smoke had cleared, Yakasa could
see a huge deep hole in the ground. Two evil red lights flashed and a huge
figure seemed to slowly rose from the hole. Yakasa moved back and saw the
figure descend onto the solid ground. It was Sigma and this time, he was in
some kind of new body.

" Dr Doppler invented this body for me. " raved the mad Maverick. " It has
the combined powers and abilities of other Hunters such as yourself. Yakasa
looked at the new massive body Sigma had. Two massive shoulder cannons were
mounted by Sigma's side and two huge missle barrels were allocated by his
back. His body itself had the features of a beast. The only recognizable
thing was Sigma's head itself.

" That's it! " exclaimed Yakasa. " That's his weak spot. " Yakasa switched
into his arm cannon and fired at Sigma's head. However, the shot seemed to
vanished when it was just inches away from Sigma's head.

" How right can you possibly get? You managed to identify my weak spot that
fast. " roared the enpowered Sigma. " But then I'm protected by an
invisible force-field. This is soooo unexpected for you, is'nt it Yakasa? "
Yakasa stood his ground and opened his foot trottles to maximum. Then he
dashed over and releasing a powerful jet of thrust, he lept into the air
towards Sigma in an attempt to destory the head manually since his shots
can't work there.

" You don't give up, do you? " shouted Sigma. He raised his right shoulder
cannon and shot out a spread out laser beam of pure energy. The beam caught
Yakasa in his path and each atom of the laser incinerated Yakasa. The laser
shot out of the building, carrying Yakasa with it. Yakasa could feel his
body burn. His body slowly exposed wires and circuits. His legs gave way
and crumpled under the mighty force of the laser. Pieces of his arms were
slowly torn off from his body. Even his face started to melt. Slowly,
Yakasa was nothing more than fragments of metal pieces. Strangly, the orb
at the centre of his chest remained intact and glowed a dull pink. When the
laser died down, Yakasa was no more.

" At long last ! " shouted the overjoyed Sigma. " Yakasa is dead. He's
dead! Now I shall have no one to stand against me. First Yakasa. Then the
world! Humans will be wiped out. I shall build a nation of Mavericks who
will submit totally to me! "

While Sigma was gloating over what he had just accomplished, a small orb
appeared behind him. From there, the image of Yakasa slowly formed. Sigma
turned around and open wide his eyes. There was Yakasa in complete good
condition yet in a spiritual form. He floated and his face shone as bright
as the sun.

" IMPOSSIBLE! " yelled the now enraged and maddened Sigma. " I KILLED YOU
MOMENTS AGO! " Yakasa moved swiftly towards Sigma who released three
gigantic nuclear warheads. " I want to live on. " muttered Yakasa who
raised up his hand and clenched his fist. At this, all the three warheads
instantly exploded. Sigma stood there enraged yet afraid at the same time.
Unsatisfied, he once more fired the beam of pure energy which deflected
harmlessly onto Yakasa. " No, it can't be....IT CAN"T BE....What kind of
power is this? " shouted Sigma.

Yakasa looked at Sigma in his eyes. " The moment I entered this fortress, I
knew I was'nt going to come out of it alive. I have given up my life for
the sake of ending all this maddess and now, I shall end it here and then.
" At this, Yakasa raised his right fist and charged over at maximum speed.
It took only a split second before Sigma realised that Yakasa had already
smashed through his chest.

Metallic fragments scattered throughtout the floor accompanied by
circulatory fuel. Sigma looked at his own body. The one body that had given
his temporary victory over Yakasa just moments ago. Now, that body is
rendered useless. Yet even as Sigma's system started to malfunction, he
could somehow feel the feelings of Yakasa. Yakasa's feelings of pride, joy,
saddness, the desire to save the humans and make peace between humans and
reploids. All this he could feel now.

" Impossible! No reploid can feel that way " muttered the near-dead Sigma.
" I don't believe it. I DON"T BELIEVE ITTTTTTTTT! " yelled Sigma whose body
started to explode. Slowly, the whole fortress was filled with a brillant
light followed by a huge explosion that created multiple similar small
explosions. After some time, the explosions cleared. All that was left
after the battle was just rubble. In the mist of all the fallen rocks and
debris, lay a damaged beam saber. Just that to remember this event by later
generations.

" Dr Cain, Are you listening to me? " shouted the irritated Mary. She was
right now in Dr Cain's repair lab and has just received a couple of
modifications after her last battle with Bit that left her practically with
zero endurance. " The fortress had already exploded and there's no sign of
Sigma nor Yakasa! " she continued. " When Yakasa entered the fortress, he
already made up his decision to finish off the evil inside at the expense
of his life! We were there with him when he entered. Why did'nt we stop
him? We could have come back for some upgrades and..... " Mary stopped in
her tracks as she saw that Dr Cain was busy monitering something at the
computer.

" GOD DAMN IT DR CAIN! " she yelled. " IS YAKASA'S LIFE AND DEATH NOT IN
THE LEAST WORTH YOUR CONCERN? "

"Just relax " said the cool headed professor. " Yakasa's physical body
might be gone but his sprit lives on. " When asked for an explanation, Dr
Cain continued. " Like I said. Yakasa's physical body might be gone. But
his sprit lives on. In nature, in us. He might not be around anymore but
others who know of his attempts to stop the wars will always remember him.
In this way, Yakasa will never really be gone. "

Mary paused to think. " Maybe you're right, doc. " said the now convienced
Mary who looked at the other side of the room at a glass capsule. Inside
lay none other than an injured and armour worn Zero. As Mary walked up and
gently touched the capsule, she could feel a sense of regret and saddness
inside her. " Don't worry too much Mary. " said Dr Cain from across the
room. " Don't forget who we're dealing with. It's Yakasa OK? He never
disappoints us. He'll be back. " Mary shifted her attention from Dr Cain
back to the capsule. Yakasa might be gone for now but deep in her heart,
she believed that miracles do happen. " you're right Dr Cain " she muttered
softly. " He'll be back. He'll be back for us. Back as Yakasa, the one true
Megaman X. "
