Hikaru: [beaming] Where are you going in such a hurry, Sempai?!
Kyousuke: [trying to recover] ..........

Hikaru: [clinging to his arm and looking up at him] Wellll...  Since today
        is Saturday let's go out on a date!

Hikaru: That's what I thought, but...  Unfortunately, I'm also in a bit of a
        hurry today!  I can't go out with you.
Kyousuke: Phew!

[...and when she turns back to him, her eyes are large and glisteny.  Tears
 are pooling in them...]
Hikaru: [sadly] Sempai, this is farewell...
Hikaru FX: <FX of tears slowly pooling in her eyes>
Kyousuke: HUH!

Hikaru: To think...that I won't be able to see your face for the next two
        days...
Kyousuke: [nervous smile] Oh, it's that sort of thing.
narration: Hikaru-chan is exaggerating as usual.

Madoka: [exiting school through the gate] What are you doing, Hikaru?
        There's not much time.

[Madoka and Hikaru walk off; Hikaru waves a smiling farewell.]
Kyousuke: Going somewhere?
Madoka: Sorta.  Bye, Kasuga-kun.
Hikaru: This means farewell, Sempai!

narration: Hmm...  They're going somewhere, too, huh...?

narration: Actually, because it's the anniversary of the school's founding,
           this weekend has back-to-back holidays!
<Commentary: That is, the weekend is two days long--Sunday and Monday--instead
 of just one.>

[Kyousuke stands ready and waiting in front of the station, duffel bag beside
 him.  He looks at his watch.]

Komatsu: [running up, embarrassed] Hi!  Sorry, sorry.  I'm late.

Kyousuke: [peeved] Well...!

[They race for the train door.  Komatsu carries a bag and a cannister
 containing a fishing rod-and-reel.]
narration: I decided to go to a highland's pension <i.e., guest-house> with
           Komatsu.
<Translation note:  (I believe) the Japanese "penshon" is derived from the
 Spanish "pension".  Boy, you need to be multilingual to translate KOR!>
sign: [partially blocked from view] West<-bound> on other side.  East...

[Kyousuke and Komatsu sit in the train, facing each other.]
Kyousuke: [big smile]  But I didn't know your hobby was fishing.
          Now that I look at you, you really don't strike me as the type...
          Are you really only going to catch fish?!
Komatsu: [big smile] Catching cute little goldfishies is my specialty.

[Kyousuke's expression changes to one of surprise as he realizes what
 Komatsu is REALLY talking about...]
narration: Not seeing Ayukawa and Hikaru-chan makes me feel sad, but every
           now and then...
Komatsu: [leering] Now I wonder what sort of goldfish I'll catch...!

Kyousuke: [sweating, eyes closed] (All the same, maybe I shouldn't have come
          along...)
Komatsu: [grinning] You?

Komatsu: [off] Ooo-ohh...  The air is so sweet!

[They climb the stairs to one such "pension".  Komatsu reads from a map or
 flyer in his hand.  Kyousuke looks about him in wonder.]
Komatsu: Pension "Petite Fleur". <i.e., French, "Little Flower"> Oh!  Here
         it is, here it is!

[A couple of cute girls walk by.  Komatsu smiles, wide-eyed.]

Komatsu: My god, there's quite a nice catch here!!
Komatsu: [scanning the horizon for more "cute fishies"] I wonder if those
         goldfish will do.  Oh!  Those goldfish are fine, too.
Kyousuke: [eyes closed, sweating] Just as I thought...

[Kyousuke turns at the sound of a familiar voice.]
Shuu: [off] Hey, Yukari!  Give me a hand!

Shuu: Thanks!  That'll help!

narration: What, again?!  This is either a dream or an illusion...

Hikaru: [leaping, arms around his neck] I'm so happy!  This sort of thing
        does happen <in real life>!
[Madoka blushes in surprise at Hikaru's reaction.]

Hikaru: [beaming] I'm sure this happened because God has granted two people
        this chance meeting.  Just as I thought, we're securely tied together
        by a red string of destiny.
<Cultural note:  Hikaru refers to a widespread Asian belief that two people,
 destined to love, are linked together by an (invisible) red string/thread.>
Kyousuke: [sweating, forcing a grin] (String, she says, but it feels more
          like an iron chain...)

Kyousuke: [off] Oh, so the band is staying here?

[The three sit around the circular table.  Hikaru rests her chin in her
 hands and smiles across at Kyousuke.  Madoka looks at Kyousuke out of the
 corner of her eye.  Kyousuke sits and sweats.]
Hikaru: Right.  And since they were at it I tagged along just to get in the
        way.
Madoka: Surprised...?
Kyousuke: Completely...

narration: To tell the truth, being able to see Ayukawa and Hikaru-chan makes
           me happy.

Hikaru: [standing and pulling at Kyousuke's arm] Sempai, there's a very
        lovely lake over there.  Shall we go see it?

Kyousuke: [glancing back at Madoka] Y-yeah...
Kyousuke FX: <peek!>

Madoka: [eyes downcast] Well, I have to rehearse soon.

[Madoka looks up to see Yukari and Shuu walk by, dressed in tennis whites
 and with tennis rackets in hand.]

Madoka: [standing] Shuu-chan, where are you guys going?
Shuu: [beaming] Since it looks like <guitarist> Shige is late, we're going to
      play a little.

[Shuu and Yukari walk away, hand-in-hand.  Madoka watches them leave,
 sweating...]
Shuu: [to Yukari] We might not be able to rehearse <lit., make any sounds>
      today.
Yukari: Come on, it's okay.  Since we're here, we may as well have fun.

<Cultural and character note (SH):  Tennis is a very popular sport in Japan.
 Most children go to tennis camps to learn to play it well for many summers
 while in their high school years.  As a character note... In the KOR TV
 series, Kyousuke is only C or B classed while Madoka is A classed. (A,
 being best.)  However, as seen here, Kyousuke is at least as good at tennis
 as Madoka is, without having to resort to Power stunts at all.>

[She stiff-arms him, still smiling, and Komatsu flips over the railing.]
Hikaru: Good-night...!
Hikaru arm FX: <thud>
Komatsu: Wah...!

[Kyousuke wakes with a goofy smile on his face.  He touches a hand to the
 cheek that was kissed.]
narration: Wh-what in the world happened?  I don't know for certain, but...
narration: ...I'm sure that was Hikaru-chan...!

[Over in Madoka's and Hikaru's room, the two sit on a bed and clink their
 glasses together.  Hikaru holds a bottle of sake.]
Hikaru: [wide grin] Well, let's have another <and this time, a "proper">
        drink, Madoka-san!
<Commentary:  Hikaru wants to "do it right" this time, since she was being
 so snitty earlier.  One of the finer points of the art of drinking...>
Madoka: Sure enough, you're strange today...!
Madoka: [rubbing her eyes] Yawn.  Sleep...!

[Kyousuke sits up in bed and visualizes a dream he just had.  In it,
 he and Hikaru are in the water, with Hikaru gleefully wrapped around his
 neck.  He flails about.]
dream Kyousuke: So painful...
Kyousuke: [rubbing his head] (But, in that dream a little while ago...)
